2nd Annual Flight Instructor Camp, Air Sailing Gliderport, Reno, NV. The course is designed for the instructor (CFIG) or instructor candidate (written tests completed) wishing to upgrade their skills and techniques to better instruct in a dynamic high altitude mountainous environment. Planned activities include ridge flying, land out, land on tow, refresher spin training, extensive training in crosswind operations, slips and slack lines. This camp is intended for beginner or intermediate-level soaring enthusiasts. The Gerlach Dash succeeds the Fallon Trophy Dash as the last big soaring event of the season. Sponsored by the Nevada Soaring Association, pilots fly from Air Sailing and finish 55.5 miles later on the Black Rock Desert just north of Gerlach. Bruno's Country Club prepares a predictably fabulous banquet, followed inevitably by tall stories and good fun late into the night. Motel reservations at Bruno's in Gerlach (775) 557-2220.
